Allow users to add attachments
Pictures say more than a 1000 words. Allow users to attach screenshots with a request
The ability for your end-users to add attachments to ideas is now available on our Premium and Ultimate plans (if you’re on a legacy plan, that would be Bronze and Gold)!
To activate:
1. Sign in to the Admin Console
2. Go to Feedback Settings
3. Click “Enable” next to Idea Attachments
Thanks to everyone for their patience and persistence regarding this idea! Please let us know if you have any issues or feedback.

@Lana Admins can add attachments to existing ideas (Gear icon>Edit idea), but we don't allow people currently to add ideas after the fact. The issue would be someone adding an inappropriate or misleading image to an idea after 500 people have voted for it.
That said - if you disagree with this or want people to be able to attach files to comments, please do start a new idea...nothing is set in stone!

@ Evan - Is there a way to upload attachments to existing ideas? My forum Admin followed your instructions above to activate the "add attachments to ideas", and found that it was already enabled.
I see the initial submission screen ('Give Feedback') allows for the idea box to "Attach a File." but I don't think this available for existing ideas. If so- could you please direct me to this?
This feature is important for our feedback forum because as individuals view each idea, they are encouraged to develop the solutions for each, usually in the form of print screens, picture files, etc. Our current forum for ideas only allows for comments that are text heavy. -- Thank you!

@Stefan I'm going to open a support ticket for you, since nobody else has reported this. We'll get this cleared up for you shortly!

@Evan: I can't find the "Enable Attachments" setting. Maybe the position has changed with the new admin console?

@Evan: Sorry, was not meant to attack your service or to be unfriendly. Reading those comments for a second time, indeed have a negative taste. Was not the intention, so I will delete the negative posts. In fact we are looking for a good user feedback system, have some experience with bulletin boards like phpBB and are considering customizing a regular phpBB or use a service like you are offering. When we will use your service we are fully depending on your developments and we are not able to add custom plug-ins. Therefore I was a little surprised that a feature which is relevant for us (but indeed maybe not for others, that is the point of voting, isn't it?) takes a relative long time for implementation.
Resume: we would really appreciate having the attachments featured added.

@Rob Let's keep this a friendly place. Your latest comment is not productive or based in fact. I understand that you very much want the attachment feature (which we're currently beta testing) but that's not a good reason to start attacking our service for potentially not having unspecified features. We want to make this a great service for everyone, and if you have specific feedback we will listen and act on it. But please keep things civil.

This is sooo important, I see its "Started" there should be a way to know an estimated time of completion.

It would be great if there was an option to show the image inline, reducing the clicks and wait times for the user to see the image. This could easily be a setting in the forum options to show images inline for supported file types: PNG, JPG, etc) or as a traditional attachment. All non-supported types would always display as traditional attachments. I'd snap a screenshot and build out the UI for you, but.....

The ability to add attachments would allow our stakeholders to provide us with a visual of what they are requesting

Great. Glad this is coming because our customers are complaining. About when can we expect it?

Currently evaluating uservoice as a internal idea capture and gestation tool. Really need image and file attachments for people to present their ideas clearly. Can use uservoice in the short run, but the obstacles of having to point to another place for images and docs adds barrier to use and will eventual send us to other tools for this job. Perhaps this can be done for private forums first so there is less of a need for moderating files.

I have an educator account, and I want to show some screen shots to my colleagues and students in My Groups. However, I can't do this, and I don't want to continue to send e-mail messages to each person. I would love to be able to paste a screen shot into a "topic" comment. Thoughts??! Thanks!

I often take screen captures to illustrate my points. Glad I'm an admin, otherwise I'd have to host the images online and link to them. Our system is for internal use only, so less risk of viruses.
