Allow categorization of suggestions
It will be nice to organize the suggestions either using something lightweight like tags or something like categories created by an admin.
We added categories. For more information please read our blog post http://bit.ly/aw6rMb and/or log into your admin console.

I'm looking forward to this feature too - looks like it already exists on some sites - like ideasforseattle.com

categories seem to exist on this forum, but I can't find them on mine - are you still testing it - or is this another feature that you have implemented and are behind with telling us about, I see that tonight you have suddenly started going through all the suggestions and setting a load to completed saying they were done months ago!

This would be very helpful for us. We ultimately are developing 2 or 3 queues of ideas based off of our forums that feed into different development queues internally. It would be great to tag the different ideas between the forums to which queue they are going into (quick fix, long term planned dev, etc)

Is there anything new on tags? I think it would be a powerful addition to UV.

Tags would be fantastic. And if you paired it with the ability to make RSS-feeds on the tags, one could make feed lists on different tags for those interested in following a particular topic.

This would be a super way to avoid a multitude of forum all for slightly different purposes..being able to categorize the suggestions would be good....salesforce.com has that feature...

Where we have multiple admins, each focusing on a different area of our product offerings, it would be nice to tag them for categorization purposes without having to create separate forums.

TAGS please! Please allow for multiple tags to be associated with an item and allow for tagsd to be predefined and restricted, predefined AND open, or just plain open. Please also allow for the modfication of tags by admins, users, moderators.

Users, moderators, and admins should be allowed to associate multiple tags with an idea. Ideas should then be able to be filtered, searched, or sorted based on tag. This allows for dynamic creation and management of taxonomies for various purposes including release management as indicated in the original idea but certainly much more!

adding tags that can be searched would help reduce the number of duplicate items and would allow the user to search for areas of the system that they are interested in much more quickly

adding the capability for categories or tags would be a one-up on getsatisfaction.com , which this system reminds me of.

I would like to have user generated tags. If that's not possible how about:
Bugs
New Features
User Interface
Design issues
Best Practices -

I'd like this. I could:
* relate things with a tag
* mark duplicates with dupe:{id} or dupe:{url} (since you're RESTful)
* use tag hierarchies like top:sub:sub-sub:{actual tag} to denote a fourth-level item
(but then, I'm a developer, and I famously know **** all about usability ;-) ). -

adding categories for suggestions would be very useful when you are searching for suggestions that interest you. it could also be used in the emails. it would tell "top new suggestions in your categories." I saw an "add X language" which really doesn't interest me in my email as a top suggestion.

YES!! Social Tagging is key. The long tail of those who enjoy this type of thing will greatly enhance an implementation for the light lurkers if you let them. I am less hot on pre-set categories, but I think there is a place for those as well so that the admin can establish some buckets. Create a tag cloud for navigation!!!

vimeo allows others to add tags and shows the number of people who have tagged each specific tag: http://www.vimeo.com/1013263

I would need categories to separate bug fixes, new feature request, new content...
