Translation System
http://translate.uservoice.com allows anyone to contribute to adding translations or improving existing translations, with absolutely no coding knowledge necessary. This system is in beta – how can we improve it so it’s easier for you to translate our product?

Formal/informal variant translations
In many languages there are both informal and formal second person personal pronouns (see wikipedia: T–V distinction). For Dutch, the current translation uses a mix of both, whereas I would prefer to use the formal pronouns everywhere, to be consistent with our own site's text style. Others might prefer the informal variants, so translating all strings with the formal variant only is not a good solution. Having two translations (Dutch - formal, Dutch - informal) sounds like a maintenance nightmare though. I have no good solution, I guess, other than to allow users to override some translations on their own…

Provide better context information / Live Edit
First of all: We love uservoice (we use it ourselves) plus we really think that your translation center is a great idea. However, when browsing the admin panel (e.g. in German) we find a lot of translations that simply don't match their meaning.
We built https://phraseapp.com, a service that provides real context information for translations by allowing a live edit right on the site.
We would be glad if we could integrate our software with your translation center for you, to improve the translation process for uservoice even further and assist your translating user base with their great job!

Allow admins to choose their own text
The translation into Dutch is not good. I keep adding correct translations in the tool, but they are not implemented. Let admins choose their own texts and the problem is solved.

Guidelines??
If many people work on a translation, there should be some general guidelines. Those will greatly improve the quality. Topics to cover are:
* Some languages have a formal and informal translation for "you" (french, dutch). Which one to use? Is looks very clumsy if they are mixed (which is happening right now).
* Translations for application specific concepts should be standardized. For example, the translation of "sign in", "case", "ticket" etcetera should be used consistently throughout the translation.
And I guess, 5-10 more. But I'm not a professional translator.

Enable partially translated languages
I see some translations done for russian languages. However, russian language is generally not available (probably because it is not fully translated yet).
There are 486 untranslated and 147 reviewed.
I would highly appreciate if I could use already available 147 translations for russian language and the rest to be english.11 votes -

When restarting translation, users can't see which messages they've edited
the previously submitted by users changes are not visible so they have to remember which messages they've edited to skip them.

Give strings some sort of context
Phrases out of context are hard to translate. Provide an example or preview to give them further context.

Plural Support
Some languages need plural support for the count nouns. MediaWiki has patterns for the most of the languages and it is the only software I know which supports plural (and gender) fully. I am sure it is a pretty hard thing to do, at least for now.

You failed to authenticate with RPX
I think you should change 'RPX' into Janrain Engage, if this is concerning Janrain's OpenID software.
