How can we improve our translation site?

Give strings some sort of context

Phrases out of context are hard to translate. Provide an example or preview to give them further context.

I agree with fagiani: It's really hard to translate without knowing the context. I'm trying to translating to Portuguese and It's very complicated to do it without a preview

        Gosh, people!
Providing some sort of a context description is a MUST for a good translation!!!

About a way to do a preview. Simplest way to do that, is to allow users to create their own forums in desired languages?
Or maybe even allow them to use their own .pot file for forum interface?

I've been translating it to Brazilian Portuguese but it is really hard to figure the translation without knowing context. Can you enable multiple languages for the translator accounts or create a dummy account for every translator so we can compare?

A quick and dirty solution would be making a "Numbered English" language where each phrase would begin with an unique 3 digit number, and making a dummy UV page that uses that language. If you use that "numbered English (en-NR :)" language as the reference language in 99translations, then the translators can check the dummy page and easily see where each phrase belongs

I agree with edgerunner and debose. Is it possible that you make demo site on which we can check in live mode translation in our language. Please, prioritize that.

That whould be really-really-really absolutely useful.

I stopped work on russian translation, just because it's really hard to understand what some texts are used for.
But mechanical translation of every word to my language can only lead to stupid and unusable interface.
