SEO options

Our support team is not equipped to give SEO best practices or advice. In this article, we will explain your current options.

Can the content on UserVoice be attributed to our domain?

You can set up a custom domain using a CNAME. This will attribute your UserVoice SEO results to your own domain.

More information about setting up a custom domain can be found here (link). When your custom domain is in place, will be a 301 redirect to your custom domain.

Q: Can I update the meta title or description tags on ideas or articles?

A: No, not at this time. If you would like to see us add this feature, support the idea here.

What if I don't want my site to be indexed by search engines?

If you don't want your site indexed by search engines, you can add a no-index tag to the HTML of your UserVoice site. You will need to be the appropriate plan level with access to custom HTML.

This article explains about no-index tags in general:

The quick answer is to copy this line of code: <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow">

In your UserVoice account...
  1. Click the icon in the lower left-hand corner
  2. Click "Web Portal" in the drop-down menu
  3. You'll see "Appearance and Features" at the top.
  4. Click "edit."
  5. Click the CSS/HTML/Javascript tab
  6. Scroll down and you'll see the custom HTML sections.
  7. In the <Head> section paste in that line of code.
One thing to keep in mind with this is Google does say, "If your page is still appearing in results, it's probably because we haven't crawled your site since you added the tag. You can request that Google recrawl your page using the Fetch as Google tool."

Is there anything else I can do with my web portal in regards to SEO?
