The following steps are critical to your early success, so we recommend you tackle the following first:

Seeding your forums with existing feedback helps you get leverage right away. No one user has to be the first to make the leap!
  • Input the last 4 feature requests you have complete and mark them complete. Here are instructions on how to add ideas from the admin console.
  • Add 4-5 more ideas that you are working on and update the status appropriately. For example, "In Progress". Here are instructions on how to update a status.
  • Add 3-4 feature improvements you are considering, based on past customer requests and update the status appropriately. For example, "In Review".

Soliciting Externally

If you build it, they will come. Well, only if you tell them about it!

Once you have seeded your forum, you will want to solicit more feedback from your users. Here are some tips on how to do this.
  • Use this email template to communicate to your users that you want to hear their feedback.
  • Add a "Feedback" hyperlink on your application and/or marketing site that sends users to your feedback portal.
  • Install the feedback widget on your website.
  • Add a link to your feedback site on all your blog posts and product release notes.
  • Write a blog post about your new feedback initiative.
  • Don't forget social media! Tweet it, Facebook it, share your site on LinkedIn.
  • Add a link to your feedback forum in your employees' email signatures.
  • Capture feedback from direct customer interactions.

Socializing Internally

Make sure your colleagues know what is available to your customer base and to them! Your colleagues have a voice as well and internal feedback can be quite useful.
  • Use this email template to communicate your feedback initiative internally.
  • Customize this presentation template to socialize UserVoice and your feedback initiative in person or via email.
  • Hold a lunch and learn to present UserVoice and answer questions.
  • Include the link to your forums in company newsletters, email signatures, and team meeting agendas.
  • Use this template to train additional UserVoice admins.

Setting Goals

Setting goals will help ensure you get the most from your feedback program.
  • Prioritize solutions to these Common Business Challenges based on your unique needs and goals.
  • Define what your goals are with UserVoice based off of your selections on this list.
  • Discuss what features will be most important to you based on your particular needs.
