Allow users to search AND sort/filter ideas on the web portal
On the front end, you can search by keyword, but you can't sort the ideas by new or hot or top. You also can't narrow your search by category.
You can sort ideas by new, hot or top, but if you try and view ideas by categories or status, it ignores the sort option.

Still REALLY needed
- to use in the process described by Peter M on 7/8/2020 16:58 in this idea

Kind of crazy that this was suggested 6 years ago... Seems like basic functionality to me... If I want to vote for an already-suggested Idea, I'm going to search for it, and then want to Vote for the one that currently has the highest vote count... There's no way to do that without scrolling through every single search result, reading the Idea to see if it's relevant, and then manually tracking which relevant Idea has the highest Vote count...

To be of true value, the hot, top, and new filters should remain after initial search has been completed, to filter search results as well. The filters are essentially useless when one searches on a term, gets hundreds of results, and then loses the ability so filter among results.
For example, at this writing, this idea was one of many search results, and had 52 upvotes. I would prefer to have found an instance of the same idea with more upvotes, and voted there instead. Unfortunately, the lack of search-result filters leads to dilution of idea upvotes, as they are likely spread between identical but differently placed ideas.

It would be super useful to be able to search for a keyword in Ideas, and then sort by Top...

Being able to sort search results by votes would be extremely helpful and may cut down on duplicate suggestions. Thanks!

It would be extremely productive to have search results for end users sorted from most to least votes.

+1 to the previous comments. As we get more and more requests on UserVoice, not being able to filter by a combination of category and keyword makes it difficult for me to see if a similar request has already been made. This seems like a pretty basic feature for search..

This issue is not resolved. As a user, I am not able to search only within one category within the web portal.

we need the ability to run a search THEN sort those results

I truly don't understand how this wasn't a day one feature, and it's inconceivable that this has been requested for years without being implemented.
Searching for 'sort' gives a list of articles/ideas without previews or vote counts or any additional filter/sort options.
Entering 'sort' in the new idea bar leads to a completely unsorted list of ideas, and also does not provide any filter/sort options.
For example, this thread (with 40 votes) was on the second page of results, after numerous similar threads sitting on fewer than 5 votes.
This makes the filter functionality completely useless and leads to a huge number of duplicate threads which must be manually merged.

Kelly, I'm not sure if this needs to be enabled per-customer, but this doesn't seem to be enabled here:
https://feedback.discordapp.com/forums/326712-discord-dream-land?query=Set%20privacy%20optionsI can use the area on the right that looks like Idea categories, but many tools that allow search these days allow for more complex filtering of results by status, tag, reporting user, etc., and it would be really nice to have more complex tools available to users who want to boost similar but distinct requests or something like that.

Would also be great to have the ability to apply multiple filters. Example: Hot Items and a specific category in the UI

The face that you can't use more than one filter at a time has to be one of the most frustrating things I come across with user voice.

I absolutelly agree with *****. This is really frustrating and makes the filtering useless. I would say that this is the entry-level feature and is really suprising that it doesn't work in this way :-(
BTW: It seems that this idea is the same: http://feedback.uservoice.com/forums/1-general-feedback/suggestions/1753081-allow-sorting-of-suggestions-by-status-and-categor

I would like the filters to be accumulative. An example is for the Visual Studio site (where I am an admin): http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/
I'd like to see all the Hot topics for the IDE category for example. Or all the declined items for the IDE area. Once another filter is selected, it closes the filter for the previous view. This is very frustrating.

I agree. Current way of filtering ideas just by one filter option is not usual and very limiting.

Same per status.
