Support Password Management Utilities
With the new UserVoice login screen, a regression was introduced where password management tools (such as the Mac OS X keychain) can no longer be used to automatically fill in the username and password.
Due to past identify theft issues, I now have a different, random, 20-character password for every single website on the Internet, so allowing the Keychain to automatically fill in password forms is a huge benefit to me since I can't remember any of the 513 passwords stored in my Keychain!
Hi everyone! We made some updates to our admin and end user log-in forms, so they work significantly better with password management tools.
If you have any questions or feedback on these changes, let us know!

Edge (perhaps other browsers) unable to save password for login into uservoice portal, because the portal uses non standard login.. please fix, this alone over time will make us move away from uservoice

Your javascript sign-in process is "very clever" but absolutely terrible UX. It also defeats my password manager which is unnecessarily annoying.
While you're at it you should review your password requirements which required me to dumb down my generated password (always a bad sign). Possibly my password was too long - hard to know as you don't specify what the problem with the user password is.

Last pass can fill out the fields if you click the button to do so but the sign-in button doesn't think there is any data in the fields. I always have to put a space and then delete it at the end of the user-name and password to get this to work.

Yeah allowing password management tools would be a huge help. Tried logging in with lastpass and spent the whole day going back forth with the support desk trying to figure out why I couldn't get into my account until Joey P. recommended I turn off my password manager and voila! Since this feature still isn't supported, UserVoice might want to recommend that their support team tell users to turn off password managers anytime a user has login issues or gets the error that their using an invalid email.

1. Go to the admin sign in page xxxx.uservoice.com/admin
2. Let your browser auto-fill the username/password or your password manager tool
3. Click "sign in"
4. UserVoice says the password is invalid, but it's actually logging you in.I have seen this multiple times myself over the last few months and customers are starting to report it as well. But it's not consistent. So I tested just now, and did not have this issue, but see it at least every several days.

I also often have problems logging in using 1password. It's very temperamental. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I usually end up having to type in my info manually and bypass the autofill.

I use it with 1password. To me, it works from 2nd time. I dunno why, but I always do it this way.

@Patrick end-user signin is available at yoursubdomain.uservoice.com/site/signin, but doesn’t default to showing the password field since the vast majority of users don’t have a password. I haven’t tested to see if PW managers work with it.

@JoshuaRudd - Unfortunately I'm not an admin... just a general user. I use RoboForm for passwords, and I visit almost a dozen disparate UserVoice sites, some with varying logins (almost all have passwords). Not having a consistent place to login is frustrating.

@Maikel yes, it could be further optimized for end-users using password management utilities. However, one thing to keep in mind is that for the vast majority of cases (excluding access to private forums), we don’t encourage end-users to set passwords at all. Giving feedback should be as easy as commenting on a blog, and not require users to register for a UserVoice account or set yet another password.

@Joshua, That's great, but how about the rest of the users (Users of your UserVoice's customers)

Or add a dedicated login page at x.uservoice.com/login

Same problems as above, except my password mgmt tool of choice is RoboForm.

I’m a UX engineer and I found the login system confusing and non-compliant with password management systems (the ones in Firefox or Chrome, for instance).
It’s confusing because there is no visible “User/password” dialog. When you attempt to sign in, you are presented with a text field to enter your e-mail address. This is contrary to 99% of the login systems that users are used to.
Also, have you checked with visually impaired users? This sort of login non-form may confuse a lot of screen readers.
In any case, what is the win for being inconsistent with the login forms of 99% of the Internet?

Currently both Chrome and Firefox are unable to save the email and password for UV login. It is technologically possible to preserve password management utility without sacrificing UV's fancier login mechanism.

@C.Wolf: The only "standard" is the HTML form. Seeing how Uservoice is the only site that I have problems with with Lastpass, and lots of sites use dynamic HTML, Ajax, and other eyecandy, the problem is obviously with Uservoice.
@Tom Kulzer: What works great? This bug certainly isn't fixed.
@Metavida: That link is broken, and I could not find the dupe that you mention.

Just provide an HTML login form. Don't use all these nonstandard shiny widgets.
