Merge ideas from different forums
The merge feature is restricted to one forum.
Is it possible to allow merges of ideas from different forums?
The actual merge tab could display a new filter with all the forums for example.

I've changed the wording on this idea from "categories" to "forums" since we do allow you to merge ideas across categories, just not forums (as of now).
On a side note: you can currently edit an idea to move it to another forum and then merge it with a duplicate idea within that forum. This IS a bit tedious, I agree, but it was originally designed this way because there are several cases where ideas on different forums may appear the same (e.g., "Make it red") whereas the forum context is entirely different (e.g., "What color should the carpet be?" vs. "What color should the roof be?"). It's also worth noting that because each forum has separate privacy settings, vote limits, etc., suddenly moving or merging an idea from one forum to another can affect its supporters' vote count and/or ability to even see the idea.
That said, this is definitely an idea worth investigating.
