Easily assign a User to an Account
Easily/automatically assign a user to an account. Examples: assign users to accounts based on an email domain. allow an admin to manually assign them to an account, esp. if the user is using a personal email address
Hi everyone!
We’ve released this feature! How it works is:
External accounts will be automatically generated and populate the Accounts grid in UserVoice as external users emails are added to UserVoice.
Since these accounts are generated based on user email domains, each account’s name will match the email domain that generated it minus the “@” symbol.
External ID of the account will always be the full domain including the @ symbol. For example, External ID: @acme.com.
Per account, the number of users will be updated as feedback is received by users from that email domain.
If you don’t see this option, contact support@uservoice.com, and we will help you get it turned on for your account.

That is a nice idea, but actually we are importing the users from our CRM system. So the external account id column is already taken and also needed for the update of this data from there.
I would prefer to have a multi-value field specifically for the e-mail domain (multi-value because some customers use different domains to differentiate different departments. In some cases that is relevant to us and causes different accounts to be created, but most of the time they are summarized under one account)And BTW: you completely missed the second part: allow an admin to manually assign them to an account

But what about the user with @gmail.com? It would be great to change user's account or even better be able to assign an account upon user create.

some people want to grant forum access to many different domains, and we don't have a way to bulk add domains, transfer them between forums, set them at the site level, etc.
