Drop the New Passwordless Email-Based Login System
The new passwordless login mechanism (magic.link) takes up to 30 seconds to use. Our organization uses Office 365 and the email login links take 20-30 seconds to appear in our inboxes. Please offer a traditional password-based login mechanism.
Thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback. It has been helpful to us to learn directly from you about the areas of this feature that we can improve upon to better meet your needs.
Improved security and email confirmation were a couple benefits we are excited that this feature allowed us to introduce and we are just as dedicated to making the overall user experience great as well.
To that end, we’ve already started work with our vendor (Magic.link) to make improvements to improve email deliverability.
Here are few more things we’ve learned and will be getting to work on as well as considering for upcoming improvements.
Reduce the frequency in which signing in is needed.
Faster email delivery.
Improved the experience when navigating between tabs once the Magic Link is clicked in emails.
More authentication configuration options to choose from.
Please, continue to help us by providing the feedback as you have been doing and be on the lookout for more updates as we continue to improve this feature.

Please, please, please provide an alternative, normal login. As someone who works on different computers this is a huge pain. The Remember Me checkbox barely works. I have to wait for the email to log in way too frequently.

I have not had problems with speed of delivery but the interface handling is not particularly intuitive:
1. User inititiates sign in attempt
2. Email arrives
3. User follows link which opens in a new window and is told to go the original tab
4. Original tab **does not make it clear** user is signed in!

My difficulty is that the login email looks like a phishing attempt. Despite our efforts to put rules into place, it still gets quarantined and, unless I have an email admin standing by, it expires before its released. An alternate login mechanism would be useful to me providing feedback.
This is definitely a step back as it's time consuming and inefficient.

The user experience with Magic Link is too fiddly for my liking. It's slow and does not flow. I find myself having to jump between email and my browser and then clicking a confirmation page (15 second if I'm quick) just to access something that I used to have one-click access to. It's a nice idea for some, I suppose. But as for me, Magic Link is a step backwards in usability. I strongly dislike it.
I hate magic. I can't use my password manager, and I'm using one of my secondary email accounts so I always need to log into my email first to get the magic link.

* Doesn't work well with Firefox Containers - or not at all, if that magic link opens in a different container (e.g. the default one).
* Most of the time I'll lose interest in providing any feedback if I first have to switch to my email application and wait for a link before I can finally vote or add a new entry. Having to switch to another application is really a UX no-go.
Why can't we just have a simple login which is either federated (google etc) or then works well with password managers (hence with a simple form)?

My first experience took me several attempts to authenticate using the magic link. I finally had to clear my cache AND restart my browser before it would work, upon suggestion of a colleague who had the same experience. I use other services that also implemented the magic link technology but they all offer using the traditional un/pw as an alternative (thank goodness). Please consider doing the same.
This new methodology is cumbersome - especially since I use multiple browsers as part of my workflow, and my default browser is not the same as the one where I use Uservoice, which requires me even one more step of having to copy/paste my magic link. I am typically a big fan of streamlining processes and upgrading technology, but I am not a fan of this.

I'd like to go back to a traditional user name and password scheme. This comment will probably demonstrate my ignorance, but I don't see how this system is valuable or more secure. I've got a bajillion websites that require a user name and password...and then Uservoice with some strange always-required email verification.
One of our customer accounts is currently "locked out" of giving feedback because of this new authentication process (their security process is automatically filtering out the magic link emails). I have never experienced an authentication process that was this painful before. I agree with Kevin that the added security is valuable, but it shouldn't come at the cost of UX, especially for something as simple as logging in.
What is the purpose of asking users "Is this you?" after they just clicked a link??? Is that supposed to offer them some sort of assurance? Maybe there is some sort of technical benefit to this, but to users, they are not responding well to this. Did anyone think to pilot this feature before plaguing us with it? This "magic" link is frustrating our users and has decreased the amount of feedback we receive. Please drop it!!! If you still think dropping the Start Menu in Windows 8 was a great idea, maybe you can at least compromise by significantly extending the expiration time.

I LOVE the fact that users must verify their emails now, but what I really wanted was simply the ability to require a password for everyone. The magic link sort of does that, and some would argue more secure than a traditional password, however it does seem like a hassle when you are trying to log in very quickly. Several of my admin users have complained, and at least a couple customers. That said, I think keeping magic link around but improving it would be nice...maybe allowing authenticator apps an an option or allowing text messages would make it easier for folks.

I literally had to go to my email THREE times just to leave this comment. So frustrating and annoying.
In all honesty, this update makes me not want to log into your platform anymore.
