Ability to set a default status for new suggestions
Be able to set a "starting" status for new suggestions so that when a suggestion is created it has a status already applied.
Great news! You can now set a default status (both public and internal) for newly created ideas.
Visit the settings for custom public and internal statuses (available on the UserVoice Discovery Pro and Premium Plans) to select which of your statuses you'd like to be applied to new ideas.
We've updated our knowledge base article about custom statuses with directions, but if you run into any trouble please contact us at support@uservoice.com

May I check if this feature will be universal across all forums, or can we choose a 'Default Status' per forum? Thanks

We would like to assign a default status for newly created ideas. The default "blank" shows up and means the same thing as "under review". This would help us reduce the number of manual steps to reviewing and help with reporting. Today since we have "blank" and "under review". If we run reports before all new ideas are reclassified as "under review". we have to manually clean up the reports or go back and clean up the "blank" statuses and rerun ther reports....

For our org. we have a document which describe what each of the statuses means. This document is on the front page of UV. We would default all our No Statuses to something like "Under Review" or "We're Monitoring This" and describe it as the initial phase of all ideas, that are being monitored. Ideally, the defaul status would allow us to set a default description (as currently possibly when setting the initial status for a new idea) Without this, we are updating all ideas from No Status to something else manually--so that users know that we ARE seeing and reviewing their ideas. There will come a time for us where we can not physically review every idea that comes through--so a default status helps the user know we see this, and what to expect. Note, UserVoice emails often go to spam for our users. We have tried using the tools available to us in UV to prevent this--this is one of the main reasons that we do not use the auto-reply email for this purpose. However, even if we did, this would only go to the user that submitted--we want all users that come to this new idea to know what to expect and be confident that our team is reviewing. Thanks!

It would be great to be able to set a default as mentioned here, but one that includes a status message. In fact, it would be useful to have the custom status include a status message. Today, we work from a document where most of the messages are standardized for each status. That is, "Under Consideration" generally includes the same status message from our UV admins, that describes that particular status. Having this text as a part of the status set-up/definition would be great and provide consistency. Of course, these messages could be tweaked as needed when updating a given idea.

We would love to be able to set any of our Public Statuses as the default. Ideally, we would love to be able to set a default status, based on one of our Public Statuses, based on how the idea was entered. For example, have a default status for requests imported, received through the web portal, Sidebar, contributor, etc.

I'd also love this, the idea of no status meaning 'new' kinda is a work-around, but being able to configure what the initial status would be like you can features would be great

I agree - it would be great to show a default status such as "To be considered" or "Not yet evaluated" or "Awaiting more notes".
That way a user could filter to see just those suggestions that have yet to be looked at by the vendor.
